Tsunoda fica na Red Bull até 2025.

The announcement of Tsunoda’s contract extension came after Red Bull Racing’s statement on the eve of the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix that Sergio Perez will continue as Max Verstappen’s teammate for 2025 and 2026.

Tsunoda has elevated his performance since the start of the 2024 Formula 1 season, a fact that VCARB management highlighted as the reason for granting him a new contract for 2025.

In a statement, the team expressed their satisfaction: “Visa Cash App RB is pleased to confirm that we have exercised the option in our agreement with Yuki Tsunoda, which will see the Japanese driver remain with the team in 2025.

The 24-year-old driver has spent all four of his Formula 1 seasons with us, showing remarkable progress and evolving from a raw talent to a consistent, aggressive, and technically skilled driver. In his debut season, he even managed a fourth-place finish in Abu Dhabi and now regularly secures positions in the top ten.

Tsunoda expressed his joy: “I am extremely happy to continue with Visa Cash App RB, and it’s a great feeling to have my future decided so early in the year. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone at Red Bull and Honda who have played a crucial role in my career and will continue to do so. The team has an exciting development project ahead, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. It’s fantastic to know that my hard work is appreciated and that the team believes I can contribute to their progress on the grid.

“We have made significant progress this season, which motivates me to always give my best. I will continue to do so with VCARB. Currently, my focus is on the remaining races of this season, aiming to score as many points as possible, while growing alongside the team and setting the groundwork for an even better performance next year!” concluded the Japanese driver.

Laurent Mekies, team principal of Visa Cash App RB, commented: “I have been closely following Yuki’s progress in Formula 1, even before my return to Faenza, and it has been truly impressive year after year. The improvement he has shown this year is simply phenomenal, and he continues to surprise us race after race. His natural speed is undeniable, and now he has added a more mature approach, becoming a fast, consistent driver and an excellent team player.

“We are gaining a better understanding of his needs and vice versa, so we are progressing together, Yuki as a driver and the team as Visa Cash App RB. We share the same ambitions, which is why there are several compelling reasons to continue our journey together. He still has much more to offer!” Mekies concluded.

Peter Bayer, CEO of Visa Cash App RB, also expressed his satisfaction: “Yuki is a product of the Red Bull and Honda junior driver programs, and it is thanks to the joint effort of all parties that he has reached his current level of performance. As the saying goes, ‘you never change a winning team,’ so we are thrilled to confirm Yuki as part of our future. He is a valuable asset both on and off the track, as his engaging personality has made him immensely popular among fans worldwide. We are excited for him to stay with us,” Bayer concluded.
