Lewis Hamilton preocupa-se com as regras dos carros de F1 de 2026 e pede melhoria no esporte.

The FIA announced that starting in 2026, cars will be 30 kilograms lighter. Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes driver, expressed his concerns about the new regulations, stating that cars will be slower in the corners. The FIA revealed that cars will also use more sustainable fuels, in addition to the weight reduction.

Hamilton shared his thoughts on the decrease in car weight, stating that it is a positive step to increase speed. He believes that the main focus should be on making the cars faster and more aerodynamic, with environmental sustainability being a secondary consideration.

The FIA further clarified that cars will be more agile, aerodynamic, and focused on the driver’s skills. The new engine, following the 2026 regulations, will use 300% more battery energy compared to the current engine.

Hamilton discussed his conversations with drivers who tested the new regulations in the simulator, and they reported that the cars are slow in certain aspects. He believes that only time will determine the effectiveness of the new regulations and whether they are a step in the right direction.

During the recently completed FP3 session, Hamilton was the fastest, after slippery sessions in FP1 and FP2 in Montreal. Other drivers, including the Ferrari driver, were informed of Hamilton’s pace and tried to match it.

Mercedes showed promise in the training sessions leading up to qualifying, similar to the previous race in Monaco. Despite this, they have faced difficulties in qualifying throughout the season.

Hamilton is in a favorable position as he seeks to secure the front row for the first time this season. Mercedes will strive to maximize their pace advantage and achieve their first podium positions of the year at the Gilles Villeneuve race circuit.
