Malukas descobre novo lar na IndyCar para a temporada de 2024.

Meyer Shank Racing has hired the services of David Malukas to compete for the team starting at the end of this month, replacing Tom Blomqvist. Malukas made a strong impression in his first two seasons in the IndyCar series with Dale Coyne before joining McLaren in 2024. Unfortunately, he suffered a wrist injury in a mountain biking accident during the preseason, delaying his return to the track. McLaren subsequently released him in early May, before the race at the Indianapolis circuit. Blomqvist, who had previously been Shank’s partner in motorsports and won the IMSA Sports Car Championship with the team in 2022, replaced the injured Simon Pagenaud for three races last season and secured a full-time spot for 2024. However, a rough start to the season, including a crash on the first lap of the Indianapolis 500, led to his replacement by Helio Castroneves in the last race in Detroit and for this weekend’s event at Road America. Malukas will take over for the remainder of the season, starting at Laguna Seca on June 23.

Malukas expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to finish the 2024 IndyCar season with Meyer Shank Racing, stating that despite setbacks earlier this year, he has been focusing on his recovery and is ready to deliver strong performances for the team and its supporters. Team co-owner Mike Shank acknowledged the challenges they faced in making this decision, emphasizing their commitment to regaining ground in the championship and Leader’s Circle standings. Shank also highlighted Malukas’s experience and potential, expressing excitement to work with him in the upcoming test in Milwaukee and in future races.

The team also acknowledged Blomqvist’s contributions and stated that he remains a valued member of the Meyer Shank Racing family. While the team is not participating in IMSA this season, they are expected to return to sports car racing next year. In the meantime, the team is enjoying success with their other new signing, Felix Rosenqvist, who has consistently finished in the top ten in all races this year, except one.

Overall, Meyer Shank Racing is optimistic about the addition of David Malukas to their team and looks forward to a successful partnership as they continue to pursue success in the IndyCar series.
