Yuki Tsunoda has been exceptional for Red Bull Racing this season. The team’s advisor, Helmut Marko, clarified Tsunoda’s future at RB. Marko confirmed that Tsunoda will remain with the team for the 2025 season, despite rumors of his interest in driving for other teams on the grid.
Marko also addressed the situation of RB’s reserve driver, Liam Lawson, who has caught the attention of several teams. Lawson made his Formula 1 debut last season, replacing an injured driver during the Dutch Grand Prix. His performance impressed Red Bull, and Marko praised the 22-year-old, stating that he deserves a spot on the grid for the 2025 season.
RB is in constant communication with Lawson regarding the 2025 seat. Marko acknowledged that if Red Bull’s sister team cannot offer Lawson a seat, he will be free to explore other options on the grid next year.
RB’s team principal, Laurent Mekies, emphasized the importance of Daniel Ricciardo’s role within the team, both as an advisor and as a driver. Ricciardo joined AlphaTauri (RB) during the 2023 season, taking over from someone else on the team.
Ricciardo has had a challenging season with RB and has struggled to outperform his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda. However, Mekies remains confident in Ricciardo’s abilities and believes he has a lot to offer. The 34-year-old driver will need to prove his worth to the team and will look to leverage his knowledge of the Montreal track, where he won a race in his career. So far, Ricciardo has accumulated five points in the drivers’ championship.
