Opinião sobre as regulamentações dos carros da F1 em 2026:

The 2026 Rules for Formula 1 promise to bring changes to the cars that will improve overtaking opportunities and address the problems caused by aerodynamic developments and the removal of DRS. However, it remains to be seen whether these rules will be effective in achieving their goals. Here are our team’s initial thoughts:

Mark Hughes

The rules for 2026 are a smart solution to the problem created by the insistence on hybrid technology. Despite the limitations imposed by the size and weight of the cars, these rules manage to find a way to make the cars more agile. It is interesting to hear F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali considering the possibility of removing hybrids in 2030 with the introduction of sustainable fuel, which suggests a return to lighter and more agile cars.

Scott Mitchell-Malm

At first glance, the new rules for 2026 may not seem drastically different from the current rules. However, there is a noticeable reduction in size and complexity, indicating a focus on improving the agility of the cars and their ability to follow each other closely. While it is not certain whether these changes will lead to more exciting races, there are some innovative solutions to address issues such as air disturbance and the replacement of DRS with an energy management system.

Glenn Freeman

It is important to remember that the images released by the FIA are only a preliminary representation of how the cars will be. Teams will certainly present more aggressive designs that adapt to these rules. The 2022 demonstration car revealed at Silverstone in 2021 serves as a reminder that the final product will be significantly different from what we see now.

Oliver Card

The current generation of F1 cars has become too large, hindering their maneuverability and ability to engage in close battles. Although the changes introduced in the 2026 rules may not be drastic, they offer a significant weight reduction, which is a step in the right direction. Furthermore, the development of sustainable fuel for F1 and potentially for consumer use is an exciting prospect.

Josh Suttill

The introduction of new F1 rules for 2026 may initially generate excitement, but history has shown that novelty wears off quickly. Although there may be a reshuffling of the order initially, dominant teams tend to regain their advantage. The implementation of new rules can also hinder battles of organic development, as seen in the transition from the title fight between Mercedes and Red Bull in 2021 to Red Bull’s dominance in 2022.

Edd Straw

The overall package of rules for 2026 seems well thought out, but there are concerns that chassis regulations are heavily influenced by power unit requirements. Although the compromises made are logical, they may not result in the best possible package to create an exciting and challenging experience in F1. The desire to reduce the size and weight of cars conflicts with the need for hybrid power units.

Ben Anderson

The direction of the new rules is likely to be well received by Mercedes, which has faced challenges with the current ground effect regulations. The expected changes for 2026, such as higher ride heights and reduced floor width, are more in line with Mercedes’ capabilities. Although there may still be other obstacles to overcome, these new aerodynamic rules fit with Mercedes’ expertise, especially in hybrid engines.
