Ferrari perde principal especialista técnico para a Mercedes após ’23 anos de dedicação’

Simone Resta, considered one of the top designers of the current Formula 1 era, recently became the subject of team changes. This came after accusations were made against the team boss. On the other hand, Mercedes managed to hire a key engineer who had been with the team for over 23 years, further increasing the trend of personnel movement.

Simone Resta, an Italian designer born in the northern region of Italy, has always had a strong passion for motorsport. He joined Ferrari in 1998 with the dream of being part of the prestigious Italian team. In 2001, he began his journey at Ferrari as a suspension designer.

After more than two decades at Ferrari, Mercedes was able to attract the 53-year-old designer from Maranello. Resta expressed his gratitude to Ferrari on LinkedIn as he bid farewell to the team. During his time in Maranello, he also served as the head of certain departments for brief periods, but was loaned out to other teams by Ferrari. Now, Resta embarks on a new journey in Formula 1, with the goal of helping Mercedes overcome their challenges and compete for the championship in the coming years.

Despite losing an important technical mind to their rivals, Ferrari seems to be on the rise in Formula 1. Their star driver recently won the Monaco Grand Prix, sending a message that Ferrari is not far behind their competitors. Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull Racing, recognized Ferrari as a potential threat to the championship. He noted that both Ferrari and Red Bull have been closing in on the Austrian team. Additionally, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has had below-par results in the past two weekends, contributing to the team’s drop in performance. Horner is well aware of the potential disaster this situation could bring for the reigning champions.

Furthermore, Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, is currently 31 points behind the championship leader in the intermediate standings. This indicates the possibility of an unexpected title fight forming behind the scenes in Formula 1.
