Carlos Sainz may face a disastrous season.

Carlos Sainz pode enfrentar uma temporada desastrosa.

Carlos Sainz may face a drop in his position in Formula 1 next season due to the lack of offers from top teams. Sainz, who was the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race in F1 last season, was replaced by Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari for the 2025 season. Despite this impressive performance, the 29-year-old driver has not yet secured a new team for the upcoming season and it seems things are not going in his favor.

Initially, Red Bull showed interest in hiring Sainz as a replacement for Sergio Perez. However, it is reported that Milton Keynes is close to finalizing a one-year extension for the Mexican driver. On the other hand, Mercedes seems out of reach for Sainz as they have their eyes set on another driver for the Silver Arrows.

Although Sainz still has some options for the next season, including a possible move to Audi or joining Williams, it seems that his 2025 season may be destined for disappointment. As the only non-Red Bull race winner in 2023, Sainz hoped to secure a place in a top team. However, with only two mid-field team options remaining, it is unlikely that he will be able to compete for wins next season.

While the acquisition of Sauber by Audi may present a promising project for Sainz in the long term, it will only have full effect from 2026 onwards. In the meantime, Williams may be a more viable short-term option, thanks to their improved leadership. However, it is clear that the British team will not be competitive enough to fight for podiums in the near future.

Looking at the 2026 regulations, Sainz may see Audi as the most promising opportunity, considering the support of the German manufacturer. However, a significant investment will be needed in the early years for Audi to truly match the performance of teams like Red Bull and Mercedes. On the other hand, Williams remains one of the few independent teams on the grid, and Sainz would heavily rely on their Mercedes power unit if he were to join them next season. Realistically, however, Sainz would not be in contention for the championship at Williams.

Unfortunately, it seems that Sainz will have to face some challenging seasons in Formula 1. He may have to wait until 2027 to secure a top seat. It is disheartening to see such a talented driver being pushed down in the rankings, despite his recent race successes.
