Christian Horner acredita que ambos os carros precisam marcar pontos, afirmando que Sergio Perez deve melhorar após um difícil fim de semana no GP de Mônaco.

Sergio Perez had a Did Not Finish (DNF) at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. The Red Bull Formula 1 team had a below-par performance at the event, with Perez finishing in sixth place and facing a disappointing DNF. Team principal Christian Horner has been closely monitoring the situation in the 2024 Championship and urged Perez to improve his performance. Horner hopes the Mexican driver can reach the level of skill he showed in the early stages of the season. After completing eight races, Perez has accumulated 107 points in the Drivers’ Championship.

Horner’s reaction indicates that Red Bull is feeling the pressure in both the constructors’ and drivers’ championships after the recent Monaco Grand Prix. McLaren and Ferrari have been performing exceptionally well in the recent races. While Horner had asked Perez to step up his game in the upcoming races, Perez believes his DNF in Monaco could have been avoided. He places the blame entirely on the Haas driver for the incident that occurred during the first lap of the street circuit. The incident was deemed a racing incident by the FIA and was not further investigated.

As a result of the race in Monaco, Sergio Perez currently sits in fifth place in the World Drivers’ Championship. Although Red Bull is still leading the constructors’ championship, Ferrari has significantly reduced the gap, trailing by just 24 points. Given this situation, Christian Horner’s concerns are completely understandable. Perez needs to deliver his best performance from the Canadian Grand Prix onwards, otherwise, he risks losing the opportunity to renew his contract with the team for the 2025 season.
