Kyle Busch had a challenging day at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Richard Childress Racing has been improving this season, with Busch as their lead driver. Despite a rough start, they finished 15th in the rain-shortened race at Charlotte. There were no dramatic incidents like Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s fight the previous week at North Wilkesboro.
During the race, Busch mentioned it was a night of ups and downs for the No. 8 Chevy Camaro ZL1 team. He admitted they faced difficulties early in the race, which set them back. However, they were able to recover before the end of the first stage.
The Coca-Cola 600 was a special night for Richard Childress Racing, as they had a notable guest in their pit box. The former US president was in attendance, showing more interest in Austin Dillon’s side of the box than the two-time Cup Series champions.
RCR’s No. 8 team crew chief, Randal Burnett, made some crucial decisions during the first stage, helping Busch regain a spot in the top-10. However, the car became too tight again, causing Busch to lose positions. Busch believes that if they could have finished the race, they would have had a better result.
Although the No. 8 team didn’t have the best day or result, it was still a decent performance considering the team’s current form. It will be interesting to see if Busch and the team can return to their winning ways soon, as the regular season has reached its halfway point.
