Red Bull enfrentando consequências caras do acidente de Sergio Perez no GP de Mônaco, diz Helmut Marko.

Sergio Perez and Kevin Magnussen collided during the first lap of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Red Bull Formula 1 team had a forgettable performance at the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. Perez managed to finish in sixth place, but Magnussen’s race came to an abrupt end on the first lap.

Magnussen’s contact from behind caused Perez to spin and crash into the barriers at high speed. The RB20 car was severely damaged, with both front tires completely destroyed.

After the race, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko admitted that repairing Perez’s RB20 would be a costly endeavor for the team.

Marko, an 80-year-old veteran, expressed surprise that the Perez-Magnussen incident was considered a racing incident. He also highlighted the negative impact of Perez’s crash on the team’s budget limit.

Marko was not the only one surprised by the treatment of the incident. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner also felt that race officials should have taken a closer look at what happened.

Horner also made it clear that he considered Magnussen’s actions unacceptable.

The race weekend in Monaco only yielded eight points for the Red Bull F1 team. This had a significant negative impact on their position in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship. Ferrari is now just 24 points behind them and gaining ground quickly. The upcoming Canadian Grand Prix is crucial for Red Bull for several reasons.
