Helmut Marko alega que Sebastian Vettel solicitou repetidamente se juntar a Max Verstappen na Red Bull em meio a especulações de um retorno à Fórmula 1.

Max Verstappen is about to replicate Sebastian Vettel’s championship streak from 2010 to 2013. The Formula 1 grid has been embroiled in a fierce battle since the start of the 2024 season. Verstappen’s surprising departure left a void, and rumors of his return have been circulating. However, these speculations reached their peak when it was recently revealed that Vettel had repeatedly requested a return to Milton Keynes.

Sebastian Vettel joined the Formula 1 grid in 2007 with the support of Red Bull, a partnership that had begun during his karting days. The 36-year-old driver gained immense popularity with the Austrian team, winning four consecutive world championships between 2010 and 2013. However, his glory days were behind him, and he chose to retire in 2022, citing his desire to focus more on his family.

Despite this, Vettel’s passion for racing could not keep him completely away from the sport, as he contemplated the idea of returning to Formula 1. On the other hand, Helmut Marko, amid rumors of Vettel moving to Brackley, revealed that the German driver even approached Red Bull, hoping for a meeting with his former championship-winning team. However, Marko believed that Vettel would not be able to match the level of performance of Max Verstappen. As a result, the door was closed for a possible return to his former team.

In his early championship days, Vettel delivered exceptional performances and was highly sought after by teams aiming for championship glory. However, over time, things changed, and he eventually left Formula 1. Nevertheless, the racer within Vettel still longs for the F1 circus, as he openly admits to missing the sport.

The former champion acknowledged that his decision to step away from Formula 1 was difficult. He explained that every decision has its advantages and disadvantages. Although he always considers a comeback, he is satisfied with his choice to retire.

Despite Vettel’s satisfaction with his retirement, the driver market remains volatile, leaving open the possibility of his return from sabbatical. The upcoming weeks will provide more clarity on team line-ups and whether Vettel will make a comeback or not.
