Chefe da Mercedes alerta para potencial desastre se compromisso não for alcançado antes do treino classificatório de Mônaco.

The Mercedes Formula 1 team emerged as the fastest at the end of the first practice session. Toto Wolff, head of the Mercedes team, expressed concerns about the W15, stating that the car seemed to be struggling in the later stages of the practice. The Brackley-based team showed remarkable progress in terms of speed in Monaco during Friday’s practice sessions.

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time overall in the W15 during the first practice session and the second fastest time in the second practice session, which brought a sense of accomplishment to the Mercedes team. However, concerns regarding the W15 resurfaced when the car performed well in short runs but encountered issues during longer practice sessions.

After approximately seven laps, the front of the car seemed to lose downforce and balance. This led Toto Wolff to consider a possible compromise to improve performance in Sunday’s race. In the Monaco Grand Prix, qualifying holds immense importance as the driver starting from the highest position on the grid has an advantage due to limited overtaking opportunities.

Mercedes will strive to address this issue promptly, as it could significantly hinder their chances of securing a front-row qualifying position. After the next third practice session, the team will focus on qualifying, aiming to capitalize on their speed in a single lap in pursuit of their first win of the 2024 season.

Toto Wolff openly discussed Mercedes’ aspiration to hire a Dutch driver from Red Bull for the next season. The German team is still looking for a second driver after news of [driver’s name]’s departure to join Ferrari next season circulated behind the scenes.

Currently, Mercedes occupies the position of the fourth fastest team on the grid, with Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull surpassing them in terms of speed. However, Toto Wolff maintains unwavering faith in his team as they strive to improve their performance in races in the coming months.

Max Verstappen currently leads the drivers’ championship and has already secured five victories this season. The Dutch driver aims to showcase his maximum skills during the race weekend in Monaco, having triumphed on the circuit twice in his last eight appearances.
