Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has not yet decided whether he will appeal the decision or not.
The highlight of the 2024 NASCAR All-Star race at North Wilkesboro was the clash between Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The RCR driver was struck in the face by the JTGD Racing driver during a heated argument after a crash on the second lap of the race.
As a result of the incident, Stenhouse Jr. was fined a substantial amount of $75,000 and his team member, along with his father, received a suspension. While fans and the racing community accepted Stenhouse and his team’s penalty, they were puzzled by the severity of the fine, especially considering that Busch received no punishment.
Now, NASCAR’s Senior Vice President of Competition has addressed the situation and emphasized that NASCAR’s policy is to avoid intervening in on-track incidents as much as possible. He believes that Busch’s actions in colliding with Stenhouse Jr. were not intentional and are simply a result of intense racing, which NASCAR does not see as an issue.
In discussing their conflicts and how they plan to resolve their issues, Stenhouse Jr. stated that he still has respect for Kyle Busch. Although he admitted that some of that respect was lost due to how Busch handled the confrontation, he still maintains a certain level of respect for him.
Both drivers have a reputation for their tenacity and refusal to give up on the track. It will be intriguing to see how this rivalry develops in the future, as they will likely face each other frequently in the coming months.
