Vettel: Senna representa mais do que apenas suas conquistas na pista.

Formula One (F1), Formula Two (F2), and Formula Three (F3) drivers, along with engineers, mechanics, and media members, took part in a commemorative race at the Imola track on Thursday night. The event was held to remember the tragic death of three-time champion Ayrton Senna during the 1994 race at Imola. Senna, who was a beloved figure by many, including seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, continues to hold a significant place in F1 history, even for drivers who were not yet born at the time of his death.

During the gathering, the drivers wore t-shirts in the iconic yellow color with blue and green stripes, representing Senna’s helmet design. They gathered around a memorial located at the Tamburello corner, the exact spot where Senna lost his life. As a tribute to Senna and Roland Ratzenberger, who also tragically died in an accident during the same race weekend, flags of Brazil and Austria were displayed.

Sebastian Vettel, a four-time champion who retired from F1 in 2022, played a key role in organizing the memorial event in collaboration with the Senna Foundation. As part of the race weekend, Vettel will also have the opportunity to drive Senna’s 1993 McLaren car in a demonstration. Reflecting on the occasion, Vettel expressed his admiration for Senna’s racing skill and highlighted his humanitarian efforts in combating social issues and poverty in Brazil.

Vettel also emphasized the importance of remembering Ratzenberger, who lost his life one day before Senna’s fatal accident. Both individuals were unique and left a lasting impact beyond their achievements on the track. Their contributions should never be forgotten.

Before the Imola weekend, Bruno Senna, nephew of Ayrton, spoke to GRANDPRIX247 correspondent, Nasir Hameed. Bruno expressed his amazement at the fact that, even after 30 years, Ayrton’s legacy remains strong and continues to resonate with fans. This enduring connection between Ayrton and his fans has been passed down through generations, demonstrating the profound impact he had on people’s lives.
