Vasseur: Ferrari SF-24 receberá atualização inicial em Imola

In the world of Formula 1, the Red Bull RB20 has been the leader this season. However, Carlos Sainz’s triumphant victory for Ferrari in Melbourne served as a reminder that they are not invincible. The same sentiment was echoed in Miami, where McLaren’s Lando Norris showcased his skills.

This resurgence has given the Tifosi, the dedicated fans of Ferrari, reasons to be optimistic. Under Vasseur’s leadership, the Reds are being rebuilt into a formidable force in the world of F1. The Frenchman is taking a bold approach by unveiling the latest advancements made by his team of engineers to enhance the performance of their cars.

This boldness comes with a level of risk, as updates in the current F1 landscape do not always bring positive results. Just ask Mercedes and Aston Martin, whose supposed “updates” often proved more harmful than beneficial. However, the upcoming race in Imola, located near the birthplace of all Red Bull F1 cars, Maranello, presents an opportunity for redemption.

Looking ahead to the 7th round of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship, Vasseur shared his perspectives: “After competing in several races away from home, this weekend marks the beginning of the European stage of the championship. The Grand Prix will take place in Imola, the track closest to our headquarters in Maranello, and is named after our founder.”

He further added: “This also means a return to the traditional format, with three free practice sessions. That’s why we have chosen to introduce our first upgrade package for the Ferrari SF-24 here.” Vasseur’s confirmation of this decision highlights the team’s commitment to pushing boundaries and improving their performance.

As a result, drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will have a busy Friday, testing the newly developed parts. Vasseur emphasized the demanding nature of the weekend, stating: “This will certainly make the weekend hectic as we need to evaluate all the new components while following our regular program to prepare for qualifying and the race.”

The first quarter of the season has shown improvement for Ferrari, currently sitting in second place in the 2024 F1 Constructors’ Championship with 187 points after six rounds. Although behind Red Bull, who leads with 239 points, the gap is smaller compared to the previous year. At this point in 2023, Ferrari had only 90 points and was in fourth place, an impressive 159 points behind the leaders.

While Red Bull, especially Max Verstappen, remains the dominant force, the competition behind them has intensified. Vasseur acknowledged this by stating: “As always, we can anticipate a fierce battle with our rivals. This means that adjusting the car’s setup can be as crucial as any advantage gained from the upgrades.”

In summary, Ferrari’s journey to reclaim its status as an F1 powerhouse continues with the introduction of its latest upgrade package. The upcoming race in Imola presents a crucial opportunity to assess the effectiveness of these improvements. With the competition heating up, every detail and adjustment will play a significant role in their quest for victory.

Last year, the race weekend in Imola could not take place due to unforeseen circumstances, specifically severe floods in the Emilia Romagna region. This devastating event resulted in the loss of 17 lives, displacement of 20,000 people, and billions of euros in damages.

The team principal, Vasseur, expressed his excitement at returning to Imola after the cancellation of last season’s race. He looks forward to racing in front of the dedicated fans who are expected to pack the grandstands.

Confident in their abilities, Vasseur believes the team can compete at the highest level and hopes to deliver a strong performance for the passionate Tifosi. This optimism sets the stage for the 31st edition of the Grand Prix at Imola.

After two consecutive Sprint races, the next event at Imola will follow the traditional format. The schedule includes FP1 and FP2 on Friday at 1:30 PM and 5:00 PM (local time) respectively. FP3 will take place on Saturday at 12:30 PM, followed by Qualifying at 4:00 PM. The Grand Prix itself consists of 63 laps, covering a distance of 309.049 kilometers. The race will start at 3:00 PM when the lights go out.
