Formula 1 team is no longer a final option in 2025.

Equipe de Fórmula 1 não é mais uma opção final em 2025.

Until the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League

Just a few months ago, there was a compelling argument that Haas had the least desirable driver seats in Formula 1. It was undeniable that Haas was in a worse position than Sauber, Red Bull, and Williams. Haas had a history of underperformance, a car that fell short of expectations, and doubts about the team’s investment in F1. The recent driver signings by the team were also not impressive, as they were veterans who were out of the championship. It was clear that Haas struggled to attract talent already present on the grid. However, a few races into the new F1 season and Haas’s appeal has grown. The credit for the improved car can be attributed to both previous and current management. The team’s performance has improved and this may attract drivers to consider Haas as a viable option.

Kevin Magnussen’s uncertain position is evidence of this. Despite Nico Hulkenberg’s exit, Magnussen’s seat is not out of reach. Ferrari protege Ollie Bearman is expected to take Hulkenberg’s place, meaning Haas must look for an experienced driver for the other seat. Haas may now have more to offer to drivers in a similar position to Daniel Ricciardo, whom they failed to secure for 2023. Hulkenberg himself recognized Haas’ potential, stating he could have imagined staying with the team. He appreciated the opportunity Haas gave him and enjoyed the underdog spirit of the team. Hulkenberg’s departure serves as an example of how Haas can offer a second chance to drivers whose F1 careers seemed to be over. Haas’ track record with drivers does not show many examples of success after leaving the team. However, the current situation offers established F1 drivers the chance to lead the team alongside promising young talent like Bearman. This option makes sense for many drivers, including Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu. Even drivers from dysfunctional teams like Alpine may be tempted by Haas. Haas is no longer seen as a last resort, but as a team with potential. Therefore, it would not be surprising if Haas became a prominent player in the F1 speculation season.
