Verstappen lida com escolhas limitadas durante o caos na Red Bull.

Despite these difficulties and choices, Schumacher personally wishes for Verstappen to stay at Red Bull, “unless everything falls apart”.

Max Verstappen, a three-time champion, may find limited options if he chooses to leave Red Bull Racing, as Mercedes seems to be the only viable option for next season.

This circumstance arises amidst internal turmoil at Red Bull, following a concluded investigation into inappropriate conduct by team principal Christian Horner, and a power struggle involving Horner and advisor Helmut Marko, a known ally of Verstappen.

Furthermore, the departure of Adrian Newey, the technical genius behind Verstappen’s championship-winning cars, adds to the uncertainty.

Ralf Schumacher, former F1 driver, commented on the precarious position Verstappen finds himself in. “I believe the exits will lead him to evaluate the situation with a bit more calmness. There is nothing worse than excessive exits in Formula 1,” Schumacher told Sky Germany. He noted that for Verstappen, “Mercedes is the only option for next year. Ferrari is full. Max is not in a hurry. If he decides to leave the team in 2026, anything is possible.”

The dynamics at Mercedes may provide Verstappen with a fresh start, as the team undergoes changes with Lewis Hamilton moving to Ferrari.

Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff, who is eager to bring Verstappen on board, emphasized the importance of careful consideration. “There are always several meetings. I cannot comment on the second driver. I believe we discussed the possibilities. I want to be fair to these people and not seem like we are treating humans as chess pieces, because we are not doing that,” Wolff stated after the Miami Grand Prix.

He also mentioned being in a state of “observation mode”, influenced by strong performances from other drivers, like Carlos Sainz.

Despite these challenges and choices, Schumacher personally hopes Verstappen stays at Red Bull, “unless everything falls apart.” He adds: “Anyone would keep any door open for Max. But I would prefer to see him at Red Bull.”

As the situation unfolds, Verstappen remains a central figure in determining his future, which could have a significant impact on the F1 driver market.
