Williams discovers significant damage to Albon’s floor during the F1 Miami Grand Prix.

Williams Racing revealed that Alex Albon suffered significant damage to the floor of his car during the Miami Grand Prix in Formula 1. This damage occurred when Albon ran over the bollard that had been hit by Max Verstappen. Despite the challenging start to the season for the Grove-based team, Albon managed to finish in 18th place, while his teammate Logan Sargeant retired due to a collision. However, it was revealed that Albon’s car suffered damage that cost approximately one second per lap from lap 50. This damage eventually led Albon to lock up the brakes and overshoot a corner towards the end of the race, resulting in a drop to the back of the pack. The extensive damage to the floor affected the car’s downforce, impacting Albon’s braking ability. Additionally, Sargeant’s collision with Kevin Magnussen resulted in a penalty for the Haas driver and made Sargeant the only driver who did not finish the race. With Esteban Ocon securing a tenth place, Alpine scored a crucial point, leaving Williams and Sauber as the only teams yet to score points in the 2024 season.
